The quick and dirty: Slow burn, angsty, reverse-harem sports romance with some unexpected twists, and a cliff hanger that leaves you dying in anticipation for the next book!
Blake MacKenzie has finally gotten her foot in the door with an NFL team as an assistant QC coach. She’s excels at the job and is distinctly aware that all eyes are on her because she is one of only a few female NFL coaches. While she’s a professional, she also struggles with her immediate attraction to certain players, especially as she gets to know them better. The line is crossed during an emotional charged moment and the lust she was consumed with quickly morphs into mortification and guilt. As she attempts to wrangle her conflicting feelings, she’s hit with one that she might not be able to deal with as quickly: betrayal. A betrayal that might not only cost her her job, but also her heart.
I’m not a sports person so I wasn’t sure how much I was going to love this one but was pleasantly surprised! Love, love, love a female coach in a position of power! Love that the male lead isn’t one hunky NFL player but three! And all the feels y’all. Angsty feels for the most part, but you definitely *feel* them. Oh, and wait until you meet Sebastian, Blake’s bestie. You’ll love him! 💖💖💖
I can not WAIT to find out what happens next!
**I assisted in Beta reading this novel and an ARC was graciously provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.**
Football is my life, and coaching in the NFL is my dream. I have a doctorate in sports psychology, but the fact that I’m a woman means I couldn’t possibly know a thing about football, let alone coaching a team. At least, that’s what my critics say. Others argue a woman on the sidelines would be a distraction.
Distraction. Pfft. I’m a professional, and I certainly don’t fall for players.
When I land my dream job coaching the Boston Rebels, I realize just how difficult it will be to maintain a hands-off approach to the team. Everything about them, from their broad shoulders and thick biceps to their chiseled abs and narrow waists, makes it so I’m the one who’s having trouble staying focused.
As if that weren’t bad enough, I’m attracted to not one, but three, players. Three offensive players who keep breaking through my defenses.
I’m their coach, but absolutely nothing in my playbook prepared me for this. My head seems to understand they’re completely off-limits, but my heart is pulling a reverse play.
**The Reverse Play is the first book in a medium-burn reverse harem series.**
Julia Clarke writes about smart, sassy women with a strong sense of self and the drool-worthy men who can’t resist them. Forbidden love and romance that defies expectations are her favorite stories to read and write about.
An adventurer at heart, Julia dabbles in everything from tap dance to calligraphy. When she’s not traveling with her husband or playing with her daughter, Julia is learning new recipes, hiking, sailing, or inhaling copious amounts of fine chocolate.
