The Quick and Dirty: Broken House = Hotel California, but in Hell. Busting Lorcan and her brother out won’t be easy when their souls are tied to the place.

Lorcan and her twin brother Cormac have been kidnapped and taken to Broken House, in the demonic realm (aka Hell). It’s a very Hotel California situation, where they can’t leave but with the added bonus of being hunted and tortured every night. Lorcan’s guys scramble to try to rescue her, but it’s not as easy as it seems; Lorcan’s soul is tied into the place so if they take it down, she dies. Along the way, we meet Draven, a mysterious captive of the Broken House who helps Lorcan endure her worst nights. It’ll take some strategic thinking to get everyone out alive.

A great follow up to Horror of Your Heart, but I was slightly confused with how fast Lorcan went from having severe PTSD to becoming this bad ass that not only could handle fear and pain, but welcomed it to a degree. Her attitude change felt a bit out of character considering she was so affected prior to her kidnapping. This particularly rings true when she suffers again at the hand of someone who was present for her initial trauma. I expected a bit more of a transition period or maybe more internal dialogue to explain how she got past her crippling fear. I did appreciate the helicopter episode though; that felt organic. My last critique is how fast things happened for Cormac and his bonded. That felt rushed and like a bit of an afterthought, but I’m looking forward to seeing how that all plays out, especially now that Lorcan has her mind set on taking down Mr. Black and Broken House!

This. This, right here? This was f*cking typical.
I apologize. Wrong word. This, right here? This was ironic.
This was the most ironic f*cking sh*t, I’d ever experienced.
How long had I spent wanting and pleading to die?
Then, at my darkest moment… I’d found a reason for hope.
A possibility for something more than what had been a fairly depressing existence thus far.
So… the irony of being as close to death’s door as I’d ever been was not lost on me.

I suppose this was my opportunity to enjoy the closest I’d ever get to death. I was in Hell.
Except hell was far different than I expected.
By day the Art Deco hotel paradise featured a fantastic martini menu and my handsome psychopathic boss.
By night it became a playground for a bloody hunt.
Broken House: A show like nothing you’ve ever seen!
If ‘show’ was defined as ‘a hunt’.
Hunting of exotic creatures was fairly popular with demons because it allowed them a night to do whatever the hell they wanted with them.
The best part? My brother and I were on the menu.

My problems are growing bigger everyday as I avoid a vengeful Momon.
My boys have no idea where I am and my brother has completely checked out.
I could give into this chaos but I want to live. I didn’t want to live in a tortuous cycle of pain anymore. I know. Shocking.
What I really wanted though? My boys back.
Unfortunately, there was only one man who could give me that
Is my happiness worth what it would cost me? I guess we’d see.

Warning: This dark RH fantasy romance contains dark themes. Our heroine has been through a lot and continues to go through many struggles. The book contains substance abuse, gore, violence, swearing, abuse, assault, sexual themes (+18), PTSD, and an array of other dark subject matters. If those concepts are not something you can read about, I would suggest not reading this book. The series will end with a HEA but the heroine has to go through a lot to realize she can trust the men around her. If this book appeals to you I promise that it will be an emotional roller coaster.

Age: +18
