The Quick and Dirty: In a world where immortal beings called the Pyx are hosted by animals (symbiotic relationship, not shifter), drama ensues when one decides, against Pyx rules, to attempt inhabiting human minds and wreaks havoc on a village in Ancient Greece.

Alessa, our FMC, and her family, are among the few humans that are able to understand and talk to the Pyx. Things take a turn during the Hades festival when a group of Pyx attempt to invade human hosts instead of animals and all fingers point to Alessa who was suspected to be “cursed” due to her seemingly odd relationship with her goose. She will have to choose who to trust, and how to navigate around a town that is out for blood.

While an interesting premise, I would have liked to have had a little more character and plot development. I didn’t feel vested in the characters so when the love triangle popped up, it didn’t have what would have likely been more of an impact if I had gotten to know the characters a bit more. Overall a fun and quick read though!

** I received an ARC in return for a voluntary and honest review.**

One day changed their mortal lives . . .
And one night turned my kind into monsters.

Alessa awoke the morning of the festival for Hades expecting nothing more than a night at the bonfires with her charming best friend. She never expected the rest . . . Not meeting the man she would end up promised to in marriage.

Not the Spartan warrior or the desperate fight to save a lost princess.

And certainly not the monsters who struck the festivities that night.

When Alessa’s ability to communicate with them results in her taking the blame for the bloodshed, she’ll have to fight for her life. But she never imagined her future would depend on the trust of a stranger – the stranger she’s set to marry – or the strength of a long unspoken love.

In one night, monsters would change her fate.

Monsters like me.

On Wings And Ash is a standalone book in the world of The Immortal Voices. It can be read on its own, or at any point before, during or after the other books in this expanding universe, without spoiling those stories. Alessa and her pet goose have their own tale to tell!
